CSHA Gymkhana is a great sport for several reasons —whether you’re a rider, a horse enthusiast, or just love the thrill of competition. Here’s why so many people are passionate about it:
Gymkhana is all about speed and precision—so your horse needs to trust you, and you need to trust your horse. Practicing tight turns, quick starts, and perfect timing builds a deep connection and mutual understanding between rider and horse.
Unlike slower equestrian disciplines, Gymkhana events are quick, adrenaline-filled runs where every second counts. The atmosphere is energetic, whether you’re competing or cheering from the sidelines.
Gymkhana sharpens your riding skills:
Precision and control in tight patterns
Split-second decision-making
Physical balance and coordination
It’s also a fantastic way to build confidence—especially for youth riders.
CSHA Gymkhana, especially at the regional level, is welcoming and community-driven. Riders encourage each other, and events often feel like friendly gatherings where beginners and veterans share knowledge and celebrate progress.
One of CSHA’s goals is to make the sport affordable and inclusive. You don’t need fancy gear or a top-bred horse to get started. Many successful riders start with basic tack and backyard horses.
Kids, teens, and adults all compete in CSHA Gymkhana. It’s a lifelong sport—whether you’re learning the ropes or chasing a state title in your 50s.
CSHA’s rating and point systems give riders tangible goals to work toward. Whether you’re aiming for a new division, a personal best, or a spot at the State Championship Show, there’s always a new level to reach.
